Aaron B. McCoy-Jacobs (Vocalist) 2012- 2014

Aaron McCoy-Jacobs, a native of Burton, Michigan, graduated from Central Michigan University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 2011, with a major in Vocal Performance (Opera). In 2001, at age 16, in conjunction with his violin studies, he began formal voice training at the Flint Institute of Music under the tutelage of Sylvia Pittman, department chair, and Shonda Thurman. He is presently studying with Nada Radaikovich, an accomplished soprano and author, who has premiered in the United States and Europe.

In 2004, he received the Chamber Singers scholarship award at the University of Michigan at Flint, and the St. Cecilia Scholarship Award for Voice at the Flint Institute of Music. In 2006, he was awarded a scholarship by the St. Paul Episcopal Church, Flint, and was the recipient of an award from the Norton Male Chorus in 2005. In 2011, he received the Emmy and Aurora Awards for Televised Pops Concert (sponsored by the Flint Symphony Orchestra). Aaron’s numerous operatic and musical productions include the Michigan Opera Theater (2005-2009), the Flint Jubilee Chorus, as lead tenor and member of the ensemble (2004), Eastern Michigan Symphony and Choir (2007), and the Detroit Symphony (2007), Flint Institute of Music (Spring 2006 Fundraiser), Assistant Master of Choruses and Principal Soloist with St. Paul Episcopal Church, Flint (2004-2006). Not only has he performed locally, but he has also performed at Carnegie Hall, in New York City, in Paris, France and in London, England.
