This year, The Pierians Foundation will provide funding:

1.    Emerging Young Artist Award in the amount of $3,000

2.    Honorable Mention Emerging Young Artist Award in the amount of $1,000

3.    Dr. Jessie Mae Colson Award in the amount of $3,000

4.    3 Chapter Matching Grant  Projects for community collaborations in the amount of $2,000

The foundation will distribute a total of  $9,000 in awards this year!

AND THE 2022 AWARDEES ARE:

  • Emerging Young Artists Awardee - Candace Burgess, Soprano

    The Emerging Young Artist Award in 2022 was awarded to Soprano, Candace Burgess. The Pittsburgh native holds a B.S. in Performance Voice from Duquesne University and specializes in the styles of opera/classical, jazz, musical theatre, and contemporary music.

  • Dr. Jessie Mae Coulson Awardee - Shayne Herrera

    The 2022 Dr. Jessie Mae Colson Award is awarded to Visual and Literary Artist- Shayne Herrera. Shayne earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting & printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Spring of 2022.

  • The Honorable Mention Award - Cierra Mattice Hall

    n 2022, the Pierians Foundation Incorporated gave their first-ever Honorable Mention Award. This year’s Honorable Mention Award was awarded to flutist, Cierra Hall who began her musical studies in elementary school band class. Cierra attended the Baltimore School for the Arts where she was able to study classical music.

  • Pierian Chapter Initiative Matching Grant Recipient - Urban Harp Youth Ensemble (Altanta Chapter)

    The Atlanta Chapter has awarded the Urban Youth Harp Ensemble (UYHE) in the amount of $1,000. The program serves over 100 students, grades 4th through 8th, teaching them proper harp technique, performance skills and how to read music.

  • Pierian Chapter Initiative Matching Grant Recipient - Mint Artist Guild of Detroit (Detriot Chapter)

    The Detroit Matching Grant Initiative Awardee is Detroit Mint Artists Guild awarded a $500 Matching Grant. The Mint Artist Guild (MAG) of Detroit, Inc, Paint Detroit with Generosity which is a career-oriented, pragmatic initiative that helps young artists build lucrative and sustainable careers in the arts and focuses on Detroit residents -- ages 14-22-- in high school or college or on a gap year and trains them to work in many visual mediums including photography, ceramics, digital art, jewelry, and fine paintings.

  • Pierian Chapter Initiative Matching Grant Recipient - Capital Movement Inc. (DC Chapter)

    The DC Chapter has awarded the DC Capitol Movement Inc. Traveling Classrooms in the amount of $500.00 - in order to facilitate youth dance programs that provide elite-level training and performance opportunities preparing a crop of well-seasoned professionals to work in dance.

  • The Nine Muses Award

    The Nine Muses Award celebrates and honors our nine charter members. It was created, developed and initially funded by the Baltimore Chapter of the Pierians Inc. It will be awarded to 501 C3 organizations with initiatives which expose school aged children to a variety of artistic mediums. The focus is providing exposure to the arts.
